ENGLISH ON SAFARI This exciting new concept introduces the opportunity to study and to practise English whilst experiencing the beauty of Cape Town, South African beaches and searching for wild anmals on safari. The programme is unique as it allows time for classroom based learning, onboard presentations and free time to simply wander around while speaking English with the locals! The itinerary / programme loosely follows the design (Day 1 is taken to be a Saturday):
Day 1 Depart from Europe en route to the exciting Cape Town, South Africa
Day 2 Arrive Cape Town. Transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, meet your fellow learners while learning all about Cape Town on your city centre orientation tour - ending the day with a trip up Table Mountain by rotating cable car (weather permitting) and watching the glorious sunset on the Atlantic Ocean from 1086m high! Day 3 English classes with the latest materials and your professional, qualified, English foreign Language teacher …. Fun in the sun! Of course, the sun only sets at around 21:00 in summer, so there are many hours after lessons to lie on the beach or to go surfing! Day 4 English classes during the day with the late afternoon at leisure – perhaps to enjoy shopping at a local African fleamarket or to enjoy the local jazz music for which the Cape is famous! Day 5 A full day tour to Cape Point – where stories tell that the great Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet! Of course, en route the learners will tell the stories of all the areas – which was researched earlier in the week – a perfect opportunity to practise the English that you have learnt – as well as presentation skills with a microphone! A delicious seafood or fish luncheon whilst enjoying the sea air – and then a stop on the return route to see the African penguin – and perhaps even to have a swim with the penguins! Day 6 English classes followed by plenty of time to explore and enjoy the Mother City, Cape Town. Day 7 English classes, after which a visit to the underground shopping centre or Waterfront is possible. Day 8 A full day tour to a Game Reserve to enjoy a walk or drive in the wild African bush to view wild animals,, and, of course, a typical African “Boma style” luncheon with traditional music and dancing! Day 9 A free day – to sleep late or to go diving with the great white sharks or to visit the huge Sunday local markets or to take a catamaran to the world famous Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years) – the choice is yours! Day 10 English classes – followed by leisure time to enjoy Cape Town! Day 11 English classes – and then off to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Cape – or perhaps to explore further afield Day 12 Today the Winelands beckon – and a tour conducted in English by the learners while everyone enjoys wine tasting and also brandy tasting in the Cape’s famous wine estates! Luncheon in Franschoek (French corner) allows for a cuisine experience not to be missed! Day 13 English classes – perhaps also thinking back on the previous day’s experiences and discussing them in English with your co-learners! Day 14 English classes – but with a special evening at the African Café – a unique African cuisine experience and a great place for the final party with your co-learners who are now friends! Day 15 The morning is at leisure – for a last minute swim in the ocean or quick shopping experience ….. and then departure for the airport. Day 16 Arrive home after an amazing learning experience of 50 hours of English plus all the time spent chatting to new local friends in Cape Town!
